Are you concerned about your weight, but still want your candy?
Written by Scott Nelson on July 7th, 2008Hard candy, also known as sugar candy, is a favorite of folks of all ages. The world wide group of sugar candy fanatics make up what I like to call the “Mob”. Everyone has their favorite flavor or type and rare is the person who doesn’t like at least one type.
Sugar Candy, also known as “hard candy” in all its tens of thousands or more yummy forms is made by simply taking a thick solution of sugar water and adding tasty and attractive colors or flavors. Many countries outside the United States turn them into what are known as “ice pop candies” by freezing them. The United States hasn’t caught up with this trend yet and that is very unfortunate!
The actual widely used term “candy” covers a wide term which includes chocolates, toffees, chocolate based candy bars, chewing gums, liquorice and anything else that you can think of which tastes good and sweet. Many people traditionally refer to candy as confectionery or sweets.
I do know that my candy loving mob members care so much about what everyone calls it. The mobsters just want that sweet flavor in our favorites, and we just want to get rid of some of the guilt.
So I won’t lead you astray. There are plenty of ways to enjoy your sweet treats without the guilt. Hard as it is to believe, all sweets are different and should not be looked at as the same diet destroying food. I and many other mob members are health conscious.
A lollipop is referred to as a sugar candy with a stick. As compared to a rich milk chocolate candy bar, a sugar free or low-sugar lollipop or hard candy is much sounder choice if you are trying to maintain a certain weight.
The major reason for this is that a desert with hard candy is overall much less total food. Still, your sweet tooth is satisfied. Consider the tried and true Dum Dum lollipop has experienced consistently awesome sales for years. Dum Dums or any of its many relatives can be made during the creation process to lessen sugar load without compromising taste. Standing alone a lollipop does have it’s share of sugar, but its overall calorie load is limited to it’s size.
